THAT TRUTH WOULD SET YOU FREE

God has never lacked the resources
To meet the deepest need of man
He who made us from the dust of the earth
Had devised salvations plan.

When men would wander lost and alone
Out in sins dark night
The kindly Shepherd gently leads them
To seek that One true light.

When the attractions of the world
Come to lay out all their wares
They often cloud the mind so much
They lose out on the One Who cares.

God Who is plenteous in grace and mercy
His longsuffering knows no end
Seeks to turn the wayward child
To find the sinners friend.

Just a simple prayer of faith
Would bring a sure relief
When man acknowledges his need of God
He's closest to belief.

A guarantee that God has given
Cease you from all your strife
Whomsoever shall call on the name of the Lord
Shall have eternal life.

Turn ye, turn ye from your sin
Why suffer eternal loss
Look ye to that suffering Saviour
Who hung there on the cross.

There your sin was added to
The list with all the others
The sins of the world were laid upon
The Lord Jesus Christ my brothers.

There He took them, every one
He took sins' fullest blast
And bore the penalty in Himself
Such was our Masters' task.

But O the remedy we received
The remedy we proclaim
Sin had found its final Conqueror
He comes in Jesus name.

The stone was rolled away you see
The empty tomb declared
Three days later and He has arisen
His victory now is shared.

What sin had sought so long to do
To bring such devastation
Jesus paid sins full ransom price
Secured so great Salvation.

Now that Light is shining bright
Look ye to the Lamb
Jesus Christ the Light of the world
He is the Great I Am!

Don't let satan fool you friend
Life has a guarantee
If ye seek and find the Lord
That Truth would set you free.

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
