The Tempter's Rod
Viewed Last 24 Hours: 1 time

The Tempter's Rod

Two senior citizen's were revived after the Saviour's birth
They both had confirmation of, fulfilled prophecy by the Spirit
Simeon and Anna, who were in a constant attitude of prayer
Saw their petitions fully granted, by Christ's appearance there

Sin could just be covered through an animals sacrifice
But then became combustible through the finished work of Christ
He became the sacrifice, sufficient, and once for all
Put away priest's requirements that used to deal with man's fall

His life an absolute treasure for human eyes to see
Not one could convict Him of sin, this man of Galilee
A life so full of purpose yet some were blinded to
This very God and God the Son, Creator in their view

He brought the lowly shepherds to be seated on the ground
He sent His angels to sing praises as glory shone around
Earth became the witness to the plan of Deity
As Joseph and Mary marvelled, "how can these things be?"

Yet assured much by the Spirit and encompassed with His love
They continued to follow directions given them from above
The Saviour lived for thirty three years and was crucified on the cross
But three days later He rose again, paying sin's full cost

His blessings still abound to us two thousand years and more
None other name can bless so much as Jesus Christ our Lord
Praise God these celebrations reveal the heart of God
He gave His life a sacrifice and felt the tempter's rod

I trust that you will honour Christ, and with thoughtful meditation
Make room in your heart for Him and know so great Salvation.

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
