READING GOD'S WORD

Reading God's Word is not futility

There is great profit...read it you'll see

It's the "True Treasure" seek and you'll find

Amazing wealth that is not undermined

Far above rubies,  silver and gold

Priceless the matter that begins to unfold

As reading His Word brings light to our soul

It draws us much deeper and deeper we go

Until at last we've found it..our new revelation

Jesus is God and He giveth Salvation

I opened my eyes and suddenly I saw

Before me my Saviour. .I stood in awe

Then by His Spirit and straight to my knees

I called upon Jesus..Lord help me please

Lord help me please I've sinned such a lot

I'm carrying a burden that's all been for naught

For in Your great mercy and great love for me

Your my "Salvation", Lord help me please

For in Your great mercy and great love for me

Your my "Salvation", Lord help me please

And help me He did with manifold grace

Bestowing such peace where once was disgrace

My lips began moving, O thank You my Lord

My heart got it's blessing by reading God's Word

My faith was established on that "solid Rock"

Away with all meaningless and worthless small talk

Give me the Word that's a light to my way

Looking to Jesus my guide for each day

For in His great mercy and great love for me

I found "my Salvation"..He's all I need!

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
