What's The Excuse

What's The Excuse

What's the excuse you're giving out
That keeps you away from God
To many hypocrites in the church
That one's been run roughshod
You are not the religious kind
But atheism is your lot
Think about it...what's your best one?
Give it up! What's you got?

No separation like separation from God
For all of eternity
Do you think it will be worth it all
When it comes to your destiny
God...Creator...Jesus Christ
Who came in the likeness of men
Has offered you pardon of the highest price
When you become born again

There's no escaping the afterlife
For we have an eternal soul
That will spend an Christ less eternity
If it hasn't been made whole
The Holy Spirit's hovering
Is there a soul that's seeking for God
Now's the right time for honesty
God can make Himself understood

The Bible has preeminence
Over any book written by man
It's pages sprang forth from Holy Men
Superintended by God's hand
And every word placed therein
Inerrant in its deliverance
Men moved by God's Holy Spirit
To reveal Salvation's plan

What's the excuse you're giving out
Don't let it keep you from Heaven
Your soul is of highest value
There's a life that's worth the living
This is not imaginary
There's life in the Crucified One
Seek ye the Lord while He may be found
And find Salvation in the Son!

Hallelujah what a Saviour!

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
