HE CAME TO GIVE THE WORLD

He came to give the world that "Light "
They never knew they needed
He brought "sure hope" to Israel
And to all who would believe it
The humble birth of Christ the Lord
In the town of Bethlehem
Would change the way of this world forever
Through Jesus God's worthy Lamb

For the "offering" of Salvation
Through that blessed name
Would enable men around the world
To repent and be "born again "
And come to know this loving "One"
Who loved beyond comprehension
So much He shed His precious blood
To obtain our " full redemption "

Then live inside us by His Spirit
This is Christmas sure!
To have forever the "presence" of God
What could be...more secure
To initiate in the joyful heart
A song of the " soul set free"
And never stops those blessed songs
Throughout eternity!

O joy came down that Christmas day
And settled in heart's of faith
And wrought Salvation in advance
Because of God's "thus saith"
That sure Word of the Lord
By which our hearts are smitten
Still stands fast in readiness
To those who'll read "It is written"

Left in that manger...memories
This was God the Son
Who went about doing good
Was there ever...such a One
And O my heart still magnifies
That precious, precious name
For I "know" Him as my Saviour
Praise God...I'm born again!

Is there a soul in wantoness
Would you know that Saviour
Who came to earth to die for sin
And received God's utmost favour
For in that Son of Righteousness
Is a heart with a love for sinner's Come and put your trust in Him
Lord Jesus...Friend of sinners!

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
