The Eye Opener

The word of God is the eye opener
Into the world of faith
If you will read it believingly
As to what the good Lord saith
Imagine the very God of Heaven
In His willingness to save man
To make an eternal book of reference
That we might know Salvation's plan

Not just any ordinary book
But one full of divine inspiration
As holy men moved by the Spirit of God
Wrote as the Holy Spirit led them
They captured exactly in like manner
As to what our God wanted said
Not only to the living of lives
But to the prophetic words in regards to the dead

The same Spirit that led men in old times
Is still as fresh as He ever was that day
And if you will but pray and ask God to lead you
The Holy spirit will show you the way
Imagine the Word became flesh
Pure Holiness in Jesus Christ
Who became the only acceptable offering
For not one sin was found in Him...our blessed Sacrifice!

It just makes sense I tell you
God doesn't have to shout from Heaven
But in a most precious quiet way
His Word shows the real way of living
What a heart of a loving Father
Who has every single soul in mind
There's not one soul that He doesn't regard
His desire is to leave none behind!

Now that's the heart that wooed me
And drew me by His Spirit
When I listened to the Word of God
I really began to
hear it
Then somehow God miraculously
Planted a seed of faith
As its teachings began to take root
I understood the Lord's "thus saith"

I was a sinner...amen l was
Born with the sin nature of Adam
But when I read Jesus said " ye must be born again"
I decided to give that some attention
And in the New Testament gospel of John
Christ spelled it out so wondrously
In His conversation with Nicodemus one night
Particularly John chapter three

If you give God's Word some serious attention
Your eyes will be opened my friend
For faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of God
Read and be blessed to know about Heaven
Don't leave off of leaving this world
And not heading in the right direction
For remember Christ...the Word become flesh
Is also...praise God our blessed Resurrection!

Hallelujah what a Saviour!

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
