We Dare Not Not Know

We Dare Not Not Know

We dare not not know
What God's Word has to say
For by that very Word of God
We will be judged one day
No excuses at the Throne
When each one gives account
Better to deal with the sin problem now
Before they continually surmount

Praise God we have an advocate
In Jesus Christ the Lord
Who went to the Cross on our account
The very God...the Word
Who removes all condemnation
When we repent and believe
And tops it off most gloriously
When the Holy Spirit we receive

I love those blessed Scriptures
They brought me to believing faith
When I began to read God's Word
Heard of the Lord's..."thus saith"
Absorbing the truth found therein
And letting it permeate
Meditation became a daily routine
And I began feeling great

I found I was being drawn to God
His Word became my chief delight
So much so in fact I found myself
Reading during each day and the night
My appetite for faith increased
As I read of the stories found there
And the church I attended brought it home as well
For your exit from earth be prepared

I was being changed inside
Freed from the chains of sin
When finally one day I saw the Light
My Salvation about to begin
I knelt down nearby and prayed this prayer
God I admit that I'm a sinner
But in your great love and great grace
You sent Christ to be my Deliverer

All the wrath that I deserved
You placed upon your Son
And then You raised Him from the dead
Satisfied with that offering done
O how precious is that Word
That instructs us as to our sin
We dare not not know how to search the Scriptures
So that we may be born again!

Hallelujah what a Saviour!

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
