God's Righteousness!
Viewed Last 24 Hours: 1 time

God's Righteousness!

Streets are filled with litter,
The rubble of the day.
Some broken glass, cigarette butts,
Things people throw away.

Leaves, bubble gum wrappers,
Even a penny or two,
Await the sweeper of streets
To bid them all adieu.

Discarded mail, oil spills,
They're sure to find their place.
Sunflower seeds, beer bottle caps,
Empty crushed cans of mace.

Broken pencils and lighters,
A few small baby toys,
Particles of old rotten meat,
Some of this world's alloys.

A man on the corner asks for money,
The drunk staggers dangerously near,
Cursing youth, for their behavior,
The result of drinking beer.

Our Heavenly Father loves them,
With a tender heart of Grace!
He lovingly watches over them.
And bids them seek His face!

He sends someone to them,
To reach their soul in need,
Sharing about our Saviour,
To bring them joy indeed!

Upon inviting Him in,
They enter their new life.
God's righteousness - How clean!
Ends their ceaseless strife!

Beginning again - born anew!
What a grand, glorious thing,
As changes are made in the heart
They crown Jesus Christ as King!

When God intervenes, Amazing Grace!
What wonders that God can do!
He takes the unloved of this world;
Gives them life that’s brand new!

As you shuffle along the paths of life,
Some of these people you’ll meet.
Dirt, grease, and grime some would call slime,
Our Heavenly Father will greet!

What changes are made, Praise the Lord!
Our God is omnipotent sure!
He takes the sin blots of the world,
And makes them holy and pure!

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
