Divinely Appointed Delays
Viewed Last 24 Hours: 1 time

DIVINELY APPOINTED DELAYS

I have experienced some things

It's happened on many a day

Everything has been thought out and planned

Except our Divinely Appointed Delays.

The car's already for travel

The oil and transmission fluid seem fine

Enough gas to make it from point A to B

Except it is Divinely Appointed Time.

When a journey of a couple hours

Takes two or three days to arrive

Plans C, D and E sometimes F and G

Through His Divine Appointments we survive.

"Lord, what is in this?" we ask Him

When clearly we can't see at all

Then He unravels His purpose

A Divinely Appointed Call.

New people to meet and to share with

New places to plant gospel seed

Somewhere to water the harvest

Somehow to meet someone's need.

And when my excitement gets stirring

I'm definetly under the gun

I'm frazzled and weary from worrying

He reminds me I'm still His son.

I'm where I'm at in His good pleasure

He knoweth the way that I go

He then gives me grace as His measure

And lightens my burdens also.

All things are working together for my good

I know it because I love HIm

This is a calling according to His purpose

As my Divine Appointment begins

Don't be surprised fellow traveler

When such things happen to you

God Who has His eye on each sparrow

Will have a Divine Appointment for you.

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
