We Have Something to Sing about

WE HAVE  SOMETHING TO SING ABOUT

We have something to sing about

And sing it O so well

Our Lord Jesus has arisen

Defeated sin, and death, and hell

The grave it could not hold Him

When the stone was rolled away

There were only grave clothes

He arose to meet the Day!

His followers were ecstatic

When they realized

Yes the Lord had risen indeed

Boy were they suprised

To have the Lord amongst them

Eating fish and bread

He has arisen! He has arisen!

Just as He had said

Now His Resurrection

Became theirs as well

To every tribe and nation

They had a story to tell

A sinless, spotless Saviour

Is alive for evermore

Only One entrance way to heaven

Christ, He is the Door!

To know one's sins forgiven

There's nothing more refreshing

He is our Water and our Bread

We find upon confessing

That we, lost needy sinners

Once destined to "sure death"

Find we have "new life" in Him

Our "Resurrection " breath

Thank God for Salvation

Nothing like it on earth

To know Christ as our Saviour

To have "a second birth"

To be in with that number

When yonder roll is called

It is simply amazing

In fact, I'm still enthralled!

I sing about that Saviour

Who gladdens saddened hearts

Who took my sin upon Himself

To give me a "new start"

Who is my "Resurrection "

I've found "new life" in Him

And I confidently proclaim as well

"My Lord, He has arisen!

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
