Grief Is a Rollercoaster

Grief Is A Rollercoaster

Grief is a rollercoaster
when you're with someone you love
Emotions are all over the map
As facial expressions prove
The laughter of the former days
The "I remember when's "
Then we switch to more serious things
And that's where tears begin

What a Friend we have in Jesus
Who gave us hearts to love
And offers us a ray of hope
As certain as there is a God
He knows all of our life's account
He knows of every battle
As to our tears...
He knows as well
And keeps them in a bottle

With life, we touch, we taste, we feel
We know the joy of living
But still there's life beyond the grave
That gives us praise and thanksgiving
For death cannot rob us of this
Our life that's in the Lord
For the good Shepherd knows His sheep
Our Salvation is secured!

O Rock of Ages cleft for me
In Thee I put my trust
And look forward to Resurrection day
Because you bore the cross
And carried all my sin away
To the land of forgetfulness
Never to be remembered anymore That land of "eternal bliss"

Where righteousness reigns supreme
For Christ is Lord of all
And sinners saved by faith in Him?
We'll hear their stories tell
Then " praises refrain " shall never cease
"Worthy is the Lamb"
And God still is...who He always was
Jesus the Great I Am...

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
