Lord Help Me

Lord Help Me

Lord help me to embrace Thy Word
And hold it close to me
To hide it in my heart dear Lord
Where I can use it constantly
Stored up in my memory bank
On the which I can meditate
When sin comes around to taunt me
Its passions I won't facilitate

Lord help me to embrace Thy grace
For it's grace in the which I stand
Praise God I'm saved by grace through faith
Being prepared for Immanuel's land
Being led by the Holy Spirit
My Comforter...amen!
That sealed me with His eternal presence
And guarantees my end!

Lord help me to embrace Thy love
That led me to find Thee
And pointed out my wretchedness
To live apart from Thee
That brought conviction through Thy Word
That of sin I must repent
Then lavished mercy on my heart
When it to You Lord was bent

Lord help me to embrace the Cross
That was raised to draw me nigh
To recognize the price You paid
That day You were crucified
And every sin debt that i owed
You paid for them...everyone!
I became Your purchased...prized...possession
Hallelujah for the Son!

Lord help me to embrace the grave
It's not our final doom
We have an eternal inheritance
Praise God for the empty tomb
For You said Lord...You would arise
And rise indeed You did
What a wonderful Salvation have us saints
To which the gospel is not hid!

Hallelujah what a Saviour!

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
