Unbelievable

Unbelievable

Unbelievable our body
Functioning as it does
All the organs working together
God's great gift to us
We take it so for granted
That it will last forever
But then old age comes along
And we're feeling under the weather

When we're young we don't think of aging
When we're old...where has the time gone?
All the while transitioning in living
To the many scenarios that abound
And God He seeks to get our attention
After all He is the Creator
For us to willingly draw nigh to Him
So that we can know the Saviour

Don't wake up just to breathe
But wake up to give God glory
Remembering He has a plan for your life
Yes...you fit in His story
There's a Spirit overseeing
The handiwork of God
And your heart has room within
For the Spirit to abide

Has He ignited that passion
God...I want all of You
Help me to live with the resignation of
I'll do what you want me to do
That number one requirement is
What will you do about sin
For that's what separates me from God
And likewise my separation from Him

So today awake to righteousness
Christ shall give thee light
Seek ye the Lord while He may be found
Or face your darkest night
There's one who's paid for sins penalty
Have you really counted the cost
What shall it profit if you gain the whole world
And your soul suffers  infinite loss

A gentle hand is around you friend
There's a Friend closer than any brother
God has prepared a place for believers
A place that's like none other
So today wherever you are
May God's Spirit lead you to pray
God...I've been far off from the fold
Will you welcome this sinner today!

Hallelujah what a Saviour!

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
