God Does Not

Justa thinking!

When I was a little guy....many moons ago....I don't ever remember being taught to pray but maybe somehow I was and just forgot...but my simple prayer went something like this......

Now I lay me down to sleep
I pray the Lord my soul to keep
And if I should die before I awake
I pray the Lord my soul to take
God bless mommy and daddy and all my sisters ( I had four) and brother in Jesus name amen....

Now that may seem like a dumb prayer to some people but to me it was as real as all get out....I mean I really prayed that prayer earnestly and from the bottom of my heart....I remember praying that prayer almost every night before I went to bed right up until the time that I became a Christian and learned what real prayer was all about....I didn't know the Lord Jesus Christ as my personal Saviour and neither did anyone else in the family or in my circle of friends....in fact just thinking back on it now...I use to recite the Our Father prayer.... Our Father who art in heaven hallowed be Thy name....etc...etc.and never think about what the words meant.....it was just a repetitious prayer...ever find yourself in that position? ...well the good news is
is that prayer can become an integral part of your life and you can experience a communion with God Himself through faith in Jesus Christ and have a restful sleep knowing that your soul is safe from the evil one because .....Jesus lives! Hallelujah, He lives! That Resurrection power never dies...never dies.... never dies! And because He lives we can face tomorrow! It doesn't get any better than that this side iof heaven! How is it with your soul tonight...can you honestly lay your head down on your pillow and say...thank you Lord for saving my soul...or do you know whether you are saved or not...this is your hour of prayer ...be willing to be willing to go God's way in your life...remember the bible says...except a man humble Himself as a child..he shall in no wise enter into the kingdom of heaven...let your pillow prayer lead you to a kneeling orayer with your heart set on God's will for your life in Jesus name...amen!...and this led me to that.....

GOD DOES NOT

God does not sleep or slumber
In that I take delight
He's constantly watching over me
Throughout each day and night

I can lay me down to sleep
With confidence supreme
That this One still guards my soul
Though He may be unseen

By His Spirit solidifies
My faith-belief in Him
Who gave me everlasting life
And victory over sin

So night time come and give me rest
I've peace from God above
I know I'm a child in His care
I know my Father's love

God does not sleep or slumber
In that I take delight
He's constantly watching over me
Throughout each day and night

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
