Lord You've Laid Out A Welcoming Carpet

Lord You"ve laid out a welcoming carpet
And although it is stained with blood
It took the footsteps of Christ the Saviour
To lead us to Your arms of love
He walked the way to Calvary
And carried His own rugged Cross
With the burden of our sin upon Himself
He died the Just for the unjust

Now we can be welcomed by Your grace
To enter the realms of glory
Having Christ Himself as our Justifier
Now that is a wonderful story
That He who knew no single sin
Praise God became sin for us
And hung thereon as a mantel of grace
To show us the way of the Cross

Yes the way of the Cross leads Home
History's finest exploration
For He who finds the Lord finds life
In the which there's no expiration
Eternal life O hallelujah!
What words can be given to express
I know praise God it well with my soul
Praise God for that welcoming carpet to bless

God designed Himself Salvation's plan
Only one name to remember
Believe on the Lord and thou shall be saved
It is the greatest reminder forever
Seek ye the Lord while He may be found
He's here for your finding foray
Look to the Lamb of God and live
His hand of kindness is extended today!!!

Hallelujah what a Saviour!

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
