When Jesus Walked
Viewed Last 24 Hours: 1 time

When Jesus Walked

When Jesus walked upon His earth
He could have said "That's it!"
I'm tired of being treated so badly
And had a hussy fit
But that was not the way of love
Especially the love of His kind
His was the love that sufferers long
For it always had us in mind

I don't know about you my friend
But sometimes I've flipped my lid
My wife knows all about it
But to others it's mostly hid
Praise God for the Lord of self control
He can take control of me
And bring me back to my senses
After I've acted so foolishly

We take grace so for granted
And undermine it's worth
While the greatest grace Giver lived amongst us
One day on planet earth
Any sin that you can ever  imagine
There's grace greater than that sin
Who could refuse to trust in a Saviour
That offers forgiveness like Him

Don't write off those miracles
That set Him apart from men
For He has made a way of new life
When we become born again
He sent away the woman at the well
His forgiveness made her flee
She couldn't wait to tell other souls
About the man from Galilee

You might have been a blind man
Or one of the lepers there
Who'se relief from their ailment
Was like a breath of fresh air
Or maybe even that lame man
Who was struggling every day
To be told to take up his bed and walk
Sure emitted a song of praise

Maybe your need's not physical
But mostly an emotional one
You've been trying to figure out this life
But stymied at every turn
Have you ever thought about the Spiritual
Have you checked it out in God's Word
You may be surprised when it opens up your eyes
To the greatest story ever heard!

Jesus told us we must be born again
Was He in His right mind or what
Even a ruler who came to Jesus by night
Was taken aback by that thought
But when the Lord explained that this new birth
Meant to be born again from above
The truth of it made a spiritual impact
And Nicodemus experienced God's love!

You can trust in a Saviour
Who has gone the extra mile
He took the pathway to Calvary
With you in mind all the while
He definitely wasn't a quitter
"It is finished!" were His words
He did a final act of forgiveness
Before He left this world

Don't let your sin take you
To a real place called Hell
And compromise the truth of His Word
For the lusts of the pleasure bell
For if sin was such a matter
That it placed Christ on the Cross
I wouldn't want to be in anyone's  boots
Who treats it with disgust...

Then there's the Resurrection
It raised our hope a notch
Do you know of anyone else that's close
To offer us so much
May Jesus Christ be praised
May Jesus Christ be praised!
That name that is above all others
Praise God for the Ancient of Days!

Hallelujah what a Saviour!

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
