There's A Joy     8:55 AM

There's joy in watching a baby grow
Their early childhood antics
Their attempt to walk from the crawling stage
To whatever makes them panic
Their fascination with our world
The children's programs on TV
Then their choice of music tastes
"What clicks the best for me"

Then to top it off...that smile
To which our efforts are bent
We're sure to put our greatest time
To us...it's a time well spent
Even down to the toys they choose
Or to the ones that they neglect
Some babies are all over it
To some others it's...what the heck!

It's cuchycu or you're a good boy
Or you're a good baby girl
Trying to induce another smile
It's part of a grandparent's world
Now the competition's started
It's not if it's mom or dad
But grandpa or gramma we begin coaching
To the very first words that are said

Then Hallelujah it finally happens
It brings us a gesturing...Awe!
When baby sees a welcoming face
With an outgushing of the word... gamma!
So what that they...cannot pronounce
The "r" that comes with that name
We still know beyond a shadow of doubt
That gamma and gramma mean the same

Now our efforts have come to fruition
There's a delightful feeling in that fact
A recognition of a person that's loved
It doesn't get any better than that
Think of a loving heavenly Father
To what effort He gave for our love
To offer up His only begotten Son
That we may partake of His good

You can become a child of that Father
Have favor through faith in the Son
Know of the pleasure of being in a family
That's believed on the Crucified One
With a love that has our best interest
Our best interest only at hand
Wouldn't it be wonderful to be a "born again child"
You can if you trust in the Lamb!

Hallelujah what a Saviour!

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
