O For The Sharpness

O For The Sharpness

O for the sharpness of Thy Word
That pierces to the depth of our heart
To root out evil that lurks within
To recoil at it being so stark
To see our distance from a loving Father
How our self will is so prominent
What room have we given for Jesus Christ
Which way have our thoughts been bent

Don't let Satan deceive you
Into thinking that all will be well
And rob you of a so great Salvation
That can deliver from an eternal Hell
For great and greatly to be praised
Is that Saviour of Calvary
Who she His blood to give you life
And life more abundantly

Purpose in your heart today
To take some time for meditation
And ask yourself this question please
Do I know the God of Salvation
To what priority have I given His Word
Have I even yet checked it out
Brother if you get the Word into you
You won't but but help to shout

It is of the most dire importance
I cannot stress it enough
If you don't come to know the Lord as your Saviour
Your ending will be rough
Take of the highest prize ever offered
It can be yours to freely receive
How can I find it friend you might ask
It's only if you repent and believe

As sure as you're breathing you will die
Then what life will you end up to view
The loving arms of a heavenly Father
Or Satan and his demons come for you
Time is of the essence here
You have a stake in your destiny
Decide today for Jesus Christ
Or risk a Christless eternity

Don't put off until tomorrow
The decision that can be made today
Divorce yourself from sin in your life
And let Jesus be your Stay
What are you hanging onto in life
That'll determine your soul's habitation
As for me and my house I'll trust in the Lord
And enjoy His so great Salvation!

Hallelujah what a Saviour!

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
