God Gave His Son

GOD GAVE HIS SON

God gave His Son all heavenly power

And earthly power too

No other one so powerful as He

His enemies He will subdue

He held back ftom retaliation

Who spoke the world into being

Held back from refusing death

To become "our Risen King!"

God gave His only begotten Son

The " True and Living Word"

To give to us a standing "Sure"

With the "risen Lord"

His resurrection. .mine's included

Because I've trusted Him

Powerful and .mighty to deliver

Those held fast by Sin

God gave each man an opportunity

To believe on Christ the Son

Judgment day will be the revalation

Of each unbelieving one

No turning back for reconsideration

His Word is " yea and amen "

Whosoever has not believed on Christ

Secured in condemnation!

God gave His love liberally

The love that keeps on giving

Until the final reckoning day

With every man still living

There separation takes it's place

Each  soul the tally will tell

Those delivered to heaven's erjoyment

Those dispatched to hell

God gave His Son, He paid the price

The precious  blood of the Lamb

No worthier sacrifice could be found

Then Jesus..the Great I Am

Love stooped down to lift us up

To bring us reconciliation

Praise God for a love like that

God gave "so great Salvation! "

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
