I'm Sitting At Your Bedside Mom

I'm Sitting At Your Bedside Mom

I'm sitting at your beside mom
But you are fast asleep
The hymns are playing in your room
Of Him who guards His Sheep
" Jesus paid it all... all to Him I owe
Sin had left a crimson stain
He washed it white as snow"

Thankful that these hymns you love
For God....He loveth thee
And will keep you in a peaceful rest
Throughout eternity
I've tears of joy while sitting here
I've hardly known you mom
But we will have years together
In our heavenly home

O hallelujah's and amen's
Emit in silent praise
While sitting by you in this chair
Near your end of days
God has been pleased to bless
You with additional years
So others could love on you
And shed some happy tears

For you have such a winning way
Mom....you have won me over
Your faithfulness in the little things
Is what I have discovered
Sometimes our hearts don't say the words
But mom I sure love you
Knowing of the many hardships
Life has brought you through

But there's that white headed smiling face
The twinkle in those eyes
The words of merriment coming forth
All truth with no disguise
Heaven has a special place
For you mom....that's for sure
You have such a heart for righteousness
You have a heart that's pure

You've endured...are still enduring
The things that old age brings
The nursing home's common surroundings
And the putting up with things
But dear mom...you shine as silver
With your heart of gold
God has blessed you with attendant's
Who love your growing old

For grace has been your sure companion
God has seen to that
Your statement" thank you very much"
Shows where your heart is at
So love you mom...sleeping beauty!
This is just your son
What a pleasure it will be to know you
In that great beyond!

"LOVE YOU MOM!!!!!!××××0000's

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
