Again My God
Viewed Last 24 Hours: 1 time

By Gary James Smith
Other Poems by Gary James Smith

This poem was written after listening to some messages from Moody'sfounder week that just finished up in Chicago...I didn't get to hear all the messages but every message that I did get to hear blessed my heart..this poem was birthed from the hearing "again"....that glorious gospel message of Salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ...Hallelujah! What a Saviour!

AGAIN MY GOD

Again my God you've touched my heart
And made my spirit soar
To heavenly places in Jesus Christ
To desire Him more and more
Your Word was preached effectively
Your Spirit brought it home
That blessed hope for sinner's shared
To seek the lost that roam

Not one preacher left it out
But brought it to the fore
None other name under earth or heaven
Could love the sinner more
No improvements to that message
It's still the old rugged cross
Where our Lord Jesus shed His blood
In exchange for us suffering loss

Not Buddha, or Mohammed, or Allah
Could make such an offering
But only God Himself in Jesus
Our Prophet, our Priest, and our King
For up from the grave He arose
To some a Rock of offense
But to believe in any other but Him
To me is pure nonsense

So hail Thee blessed Redeemer
With a love that knows no end
You came to love with such magnitude
Both our enemies and our friends
That love that drew Salvation's plan
And offered it on a plate
Taste and see that the Lord is good!
Before it's ever too late!

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
