I Wear My Cross
Viewed Last 24 Hours: 1 time

I WEAR MY CROSS

I wear my cross on the inside,
Where only God can see.
There, it has such meaning,
Because of Calvary.

I'm no longer living,
In selfishness and pride.
But living now for Jesus,
Because, He lives inside.

He greets me fresh each morning,
And upon my bed at night.
My Lord keeps watching over me,
In darkness and in light.

I can't escape His presence,
Nor do I desire so.
But thankful that He's near me,
Comforting my soul.

How could I live without Him,
I can't for the life of me,
Think how I ever could have lived,
Without Him, living in me.

If the world could only see Him,
Living inside of me.
Praise God they can, because I'll live,
The life He's given to me!

Rejoicing in My Saviour,
The One Who died for me.
He put a new song in my heart,
I sing because I'm free.

This sin nature shall leave me,
When death decides its day.
But clothed in glory I shall be,
In that triumphant Day.

My victory's all glorious,
All praise to God above.
When I confess known sin to Him,
He covers me in His Love.

His Spirit there to quicken,
When I yield and obey.
What precious cross of Jesus,
He bore for me that day.

No outward sign of metal,
But inward quiet rest.
A well spring of Living Water,
Flows from within my breast.

Silence for this tongue, would be sinful,
Ashamed of Christ I'm not.
But boldly preaching Jesus,
For what great work He's wrought.

The sinner's Saviour is still here,
He seeketh all the lost.
Let every one, that's thirsty, Come!
Come, and drink at the Cross!

Free Salvation! Free, I Say!
Come now just as you are!
Invite the Saviour into your heart,
And wear the cross that He bore!

Hallelujah! What a Saviour!

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
