God Came Through

GOD CAME THROUGH

God came through and brought me His Salvation

He took my sin and put it far away

To be remembered. ..never again hallelujah

Replaced it with His Spirit as my Stay

I was lost..what darkness did surround  me

No ray of light to lead me in the way

My sin held fast. ..threatening still to drown me

From waking time until the end of day

I struggled on living with despairment

Where to turn to find relief from pain

Not a help was near to give me freedom

I never knew freedom was in a name

When your lost.. you might not even know it

Is your heart..full of guilt and shame

No answers for what you think you're needing

Everyday things still stay the same

You try somethings to alleviate the problem

But it's futile...you're back to square one

Trying again yesterday's allurements

They won't help you..no not a one!

God loves you and longs for your Salvation

He'll take your sin and put it far away

To be remembered. ..never again hallelujah

Replace it with His Spirit as your Stay

Lord Jesus took...the penalty for our sin

He took God's wrath and bore it willingly

To bring forgiveness for our hearts

enjoyment

To know the truth..and thereby make us free

My freedom found... in that name of Jesus

On whom I called when I first believed

Yesterday..today...the same He is forever

I pray today...that you will Him receive

God came through and brought me His Salvation

He took my sin and put it far away

To be remembered.. .never again hallelujah

Replaced it with His Spirit as my Stay

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
