The Discovery Of God

The Discovery Of God

How often in a quiet time
At a location along the way
Have we said..."there must be a God!"
His Creation has lead us that way
And God in His sovereign will
Has so deemed that men should find
Not only through our blessed eye gate
But in the processing of our mind

The discovery of a deep deep love
The essence of His amazing grace
Where once upon an old rugged cross
A most important event took place
Where God judged sin and brought down justice
The price was paid sin's debt erased
Through the precious blood of Jesus
Redemption is offered to the human race

And on that Rock Of Ages stands
A firm foundation praise the Lord
Where faith still holds the victory
By His Resurrection...Christ our Lord
And He holds all things by His Word
"It is finished!"...yea and amen!
The blessed hope for each believer
The Lord Jesus Christ will come again!

The discovery of God in nature is awesome
Our eyes are opened to a higher realm
But the discovery of God in His Salvation
Unleashes His Spirit to indwell us men
For God pours out His Spirit upon those
Who repent of sin and and seek God's gain
Who wholly trust in the Lord Jesus
The bible's technology...."born again!"

So are you only enjoying Creation
Then your discovery of God has a limited view
There's a greater wonder in the discovery of Salvation
And an offer of an eternal hope in store for you
For death had put us in a dither
We live, we age, get old then die
But praise God for the discovery of Salvation
All believers will meet in the sweet bye and bye...

Hallelujah what a Saviour!

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
