Thank You Lord For The Power To Save

Thank you Lord for the power to save
And to give forgiveness for sin
Your own presence our Hallelujah
When the Holy Spirit abides within
No separation now have we
Who are loved by the Lord
And our assurance is guaranteed
Praise God by the Living Word!

For Thou has sought us in our wanderings
When we had gone astray
And led us back to see our need
That Jesus is the Way
In the person of His finished work
His death upon the Cross
Then the glory of His rising again
Hallelujah His Resurrection for us!

Now death is but a shadow
For Lord Jesus is my Stay
He keeps my heart focused on Him
As I walk my pilgrim way
There's not a Friend like the lowly Jesus
Now high and lifted up
Praise God I've tasted of His grace
And have drank from His mercy cup!

He is as real as all get out
He's found within God's Word
The treasure chest of God's gift to men
Hallelujah for the Lord!
Who did not take sin lightly
But bore its fullest weight
To put it to death through the power of His blood
That we might enter Heaven's gate

What a Saviour is Lord Jesus
Beyond men's boundary
Sitting at God's right hand in Heaven
Soon coming to earth for me
O to live with the anticipation
Even come Lord Jesus come
Thou Who alone is man's completeness
When our repentance is done

To be a sinner saved by grace
There is no greater thing
Than to experience the love of God
And the joy that He's everything
Christ in me my hope of glory
Hallelujah for that Lamb
Who took me as the sinner I was
And who made me born again!

Hallelujah what a Saviour!

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
