O What Power In The Blood

O What Power In The Blood

O what power in the blood
That cleanses heart's from sin
That washes away our wretchedness
And gives us wealth within
Marvelous the riches of God's grace
Forgiveness's healing factor
That can turn broken-heartedness into joy
O that it were that what men should ask for!

Salvation at the forefront
For men they must be saved
Praise God for Christ our Resurrection and Life
Gone hallelujah!...the fear of death and the grave
We can enjoy our eternal liberty now
Hallelujah for the Lamb
Who went to the Cross...the grave...and rose again
The Almighty Great I Am...

Who has given me a steadfast hope
From the which I can never sever
For I am His and He is mine
Forever and forever
Turn your eyes upon Jesus Christ
Faith's banner is still waving
Nothing more precious than to behold
Then that Saviour who is bent on our saving

Salvation at the forefront
For men they must be saved
Praise God for Christ our Resurrection
Gone hallelujah!...the fear of death and the grave
We can enjoy our eternal liberty now
Hallelujah for the Lamb
Who went to the Cross...the grave...and rose again
The Almighty Great I Am...

Who has given me a steadfast hope
From the which I shall never be severed
For I am His and He is mine
Forever and forever
Turn your eyes upon Jesus Christ
Faith's banner is still waving
Nothing more precious to behold
Then of that Saviour Who is bent on our saving

Who has diagnosed our true hearts condition
And has labeled it rightly as sin
But praise God He's prescribed the exact remedy for it
It's by putting our complete trust in Him!
The sight of blood is usually appalling
It immediately reminds us of pain
But the deep felt wounds of our loving Saviour
Has procured for us Heaven's gain!

O what power in the blood
Come and know it's healing balm
Though it may have tried to silence our Lord
Praise God His name lives on
And I still glory in the Cross
To that death that was done to perfection
For though He died for the sins of the whole wide world
We still celebrate His Resurrection!

Hallelujah what a Saviour!

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
