Happy Tears

HAPPY TEARS

Lord the joy within my heart
Sometimes bursts forth in praise
With silent tears falling down
Upon this believer's face

Words can't express the Spirit knows
And within my heart It groans
And makes an application there
That  brings sweet melodic sounds

Others may see this tear stained face
And wonder, why is that
But they are not at all privy to
Salvation's glorious fact

That I a sinner, condemned, undone
And totally fit for hell
Could be redeemed  by Jesus Christ
He doeth all things well

And now I stand or should I say
I lean on Him alone
And rest on that unfailing Word
Delivered from His Throne

Happy tears I must confess
My face it knows them well
It has been stained by the blessedness
It has its story  to  tell

All heaven witnesses the saints approach
To the dawning of each day
And expresses praises there as well
For the Ancient of all days.

But still there's room for tears of sorrow
As we behold the lost
And pray each day for opportunities
To point them to the cross

Intermingled tears of joy as well as
Tears of sorrow
How thankful still O Lord am I
For the God who holds tomorrow

So today again with tears afresh
In Your Presence I  receive
Showers of blessings upon my face
Because I've truly believed

Grace and mercy meet with me
There we gather and rest
In that blessed unchanging fact
God gave us His Best

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
