O What Great Deliverence

O WHAT GREAT DELIVERENCE

O what great deliverance

My God has wrought for me

And did it all through His Son

That day at Calvary

He took sin's fullest power

The strenghth it had in death

And slew it with "It is finished!"

Our Saviour's final breath

And now in great deliverance

I've daily cause to sing

This sinful soul has been redeemed

He is my everything

The world....can it attract me?

Emphatically...... it cannot!

For I've been washed with precious blood

By Christ I have been bought

I'm a purchased, prized, possession

Precious in God's sight

And when I live for Christ my Saviour

It is too my God's delight

And O how I love to please Him

For what He has done for me

I must give to Him all my life

For He gave His life for me

A partnership made in heaven

But lived out on planet earth

All of the pieces put together

Because of my second birth

My God and I in union

Sweet union...a union of bliss

Praise God I've met the Master

What great deliverance this!

Dear friend you need a deliverance

For sin will take you down

To the depths of hell itself

It is a horrendous hound

Don't let satan deceive you

Eat, drink, and be merry

And put off to another day

A thought that is contrary

But awaken to thy peril

Judgement day will come

Then where will your eternity be

Safe in Father's home?

Most important is thy soul

Don't leave it all to chance

Choose today to know Lord Jesus

And enjoy great deliverance!

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
