O For The Glory Of The Cross

O For The Glory Of The Cross

O for the glory of the Cross
The power of the Resurrection
God's eternal offering
Through Jesus His blest Son
Nothing on earth could stop it
His love had such determination
Sin had run its course
God said..."it is Done!

His rising determined my rising
I'll see Lazarus some day
As well as every other saint
Who has believed Him along the way
While friends and loved ones on the other side
Await our coming there
We still seek to win some souls
And bring it on with prayer

O for the glory of the Cross
God's centre piece of faith
The Word become flesh hanging there
Collaborating everything God said
Check it out...the Bible stands!
Outstanding! ...Hallelujah!
May His Word penetrate your heart
And bring Salvation to you

There are some phrases I love to rehearse
With continuation until my grave
But there's one that tops them all
Jesus saves!...Jesus saves!
Why not make Him your hallelujah
The One who has created us to sing
Of the glory of the Cross of Jesus
For after all He's everything!

What will it take to give you sight
To give you ears that they can hear
The Holy Spirit is faith's Activator
As the Word of God you begin to hear
Make God your Refuge today
Find your strength in Him
He still holds the world in His hands
Our Emancipator from sin!

Hallelujah what a Saviour!

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
