O What Wonderful, Wonderful Day

O That Wonderful, Wonderful Day

O that wonderful, wonderful day
When my soul made its supplication
To invite the Lord Jesus into my heart
And accept His so great Salvation
If there ever was any one verse in the Bible
That has meant so much to me
Was that verse found in John's gospel
where the Lord Jesus said
The truth shall set you free

O He brought it home to this heart
And the Spirit cinched it as well
The moment .my faith was undertaken
The Spirit came in me to dwell
He bore Witness to that transaction
And the Angel's of Heaven did too
My name was written down in the Lamb's Book of Life
Another saved sinner born anew!

What a celebration ensued
I knew now my soul's destination
To have eternal life as a present possession
Was beyond my wildest imagination
But there it was...recorded in God's Word
Available for any to believe
For whomsoever shall call upon the name of the Lord
The Lord Jesus Christ will receive!

Yes I implemented Salvation's plan
And definitely took it to heart
I repented of my sin
And the Holy Spirit did His part
God's been good to me
Praise God I can testify
Whenever I've found that I've failed Him
And confess...He gives grace's supply

O what a wonderful, wonderful day
I remind myself each day
When I repented of my sin
And the Lord Jesus came in to stay
There's no other companionship
That could ever more surely satisfy
Then to have the Forgiver of my sin
Live with me... forever inside!

Hallelujah what a Saviour!

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
