Once While I Was Praying
Viewed Last 24 Hours: 1 time

Once When I Was Praying

One time when I was praying
Broke as all get out
Walking on my way to somewhere
Trying to figure things out
I thanked my heavenly Father
That I was rich indeed
Because I knew the Saviour
And He had provided my every need

I said to Him in my heart
I'm probably the happiest camper in town
Because my sins are forgiven
Since Jesus came around
And in spite of my situation
I know God You are there
And I'm faithfully plugging away here
Expectant of answered prayer

O yes I almost forgot
This adds much to the story
The sharing of the which will highlight God
And give back to Him the glory
On my walking I said to God
Why I'm so broke my Father
That the true reality of it is
I don't have two pennies to rub together

So I kept trucking along
Still in  an attitude of prayer
And totally unprepared
For the blessing awaiting me there
For in the gravelled parking lot
Are you ready for the suspense
As my eyes gazed down while I walked
Guess what! ...They spied two cents

Yes that's right two shiny new pennies
That the Lord had granted me
After I bent down and picked them up
Why I thanked my God profusely
Then I knew beyond a shadow of doubt
My God was going to bless me more
If He could provide those two shiny pennies
He'd provide me with more for sure!

This is a personal true story
I've shared it many a time
If you trust your needs to the Father
He'll follow through everytime
Just a story about money
Along the way as I travelled forth
I value it as a faith highlight
And thought I'd give you my two cents worth!

Hallelujah what a Saviour!

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
