What Gift Giver Friend

WHAT GIFT GIVER FRIEND

The angels must surely scratch their heads and say
Why do they want to put Christmas away
"Happy Holiday Season" and "Have a Good Year"
Still aren't enough to give people Good Cheer

We find it's amazing at what people will do
To miss the True Reason this season brings us to
The greatest GIFT GIVER Whoever was born
Gave Himself as a ransom for sinners forlorn

To all who are needy and in dire distress
"Come unto Me!" says He, "I'll give you rest!"
"Happy Holiday Season", just seems to fall short
Of the blessings He's giving was the angels' report

None other name under heaven given among men
In Whom one can believe and be born again
Salvation in none other than Jesus the Lord
Heralded by angels, confirmed by His Word!

In the city of David from virgin born womb
Christ Jesus the Saviour delivers from doom
Our Conquering hero, true Victory has given
Sends death and hell reeling to the lake of fire raging.

"Happy Holiday Season" and "A Happy New Year"
"Merry Christmas!"  I say, Jesus Christ is our cheer!
In Him we have life and life more abundant
How be it to some it may seem redundant

But to all who will have faith, repent and believe
There's no other option for us to receive
There's only One Way, One Truth, and One Life
It's found in Our Jesus, Our Saviour, Our Christ.

You can't come to the Father unless it's by Him
He spoke it plainly, He died for our sin
Christmas the season is upon us again
Our Saviour still pleading for lost dying men.

Eternal life, Gods' gift,
Through Jesus, His Son
Merry Christmas to all,
Believe on This One

Glory to God in the highest
Peace and good will toward men
Praise God the angels sang it
What Gift Giver Friend!

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
