In The Beginning God

In the beginning God
Awesome in it's start
Fresh manna from Heaven
You fill each hungry heart
And by Your Spirit miraculously
Providing us with new birth
When we repent of our sin
You reveal to us your Worth

No mere mortal man
But Jesus on display
To live a solidary life
To show us how to pray
And keep His love to Father God
By being obedient unto death
Not one word of complaint from Him
Until His very last breath

Sin with all its tormenting
Could not hold Jesus back
But for the joy that was set before Him
He allowed the smitter's to smote His back
And took the indignity of a Thorned crown
Although He was earth's King
And preserved the wounds in His hands, feet and side
As proof of His offering

That blood that precious blood of Christ
The Lamb for sinner's slain
Procured for us divine Redemption
All praise be to His name
And when His name is lifted up
As the ransom for our sin
Every man cannot help but be drawn
To that Victor over sin

So boast my soul boast mightily
Behold the Son... thy God
The Creator and the Saviour combined
By saved one's understood
And sin no longer darkens paths
The which wherein we walk
For we are led by the Light of the World
And this is no small talk

For great and greatly to be praised
Is that One Who died for me
Who with forbearance and longsuffering
Led me to Calvary
And drew me by His mighty power
To recognize my sin
And to lead me in the way everlasting
When I put my trust in Him!

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
