His Wrath
Viewed Last 24 Hours: 1 time

By Gary James Smith
Other Poems by Gary James Smith

We cannot erase yesterday;
For it is gone forever.
But, we can begin today;
A new way of endeavor.

We can turn from sin to God;
And trust in His dear Son!
He who drew salvation's plan,
And has the victory won!

We can come by faith to Him;
Who died upon the tree.
We can now have life in Him;
For all eternity!

So sinner to the Savior come;
And take God's gift of Grace!
His wrath was poured upon the One;
Who took the sinner's place!

We do not merit salvation's plan;
Because it's all of God;
But we can admit to Him;
The broad, wide, path we've trod

The cursed cross, the memory;
The sin that He did bare;
And everything that could be done?
He did it for us there!

What amazing love is this!
Who wrought salvation's plan!
God brought forth His only Son;
To die for fallen man!

God cannot lie and that we know;
For in His Word it's written;
Surely He hath borne our grief;
Yet we esteemed Him smitten!

A Savior for us sinners,
Tis what it's all about;
And when the Savior takes up reign.
Sin!... It must come out!

I must come by faith in Him,
Who shed His blood for me;
I shall live forever more,
Because of Calvary!

THIS sinner to the Savior came;
And took God's gift of Grace,
His wrath was poured upon the One;
Who took THIS sinner's place!

His wrath was poured upon the One;
Who took the sinner's place,
God in His love, sent Christ from above;
What Amazing Grace!

The fountain there is flowing free;
For all who come to Christ,
Jesus, precious Lamb of God;
Has paid the ransom price!

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
