Lord When I Walked Alone

Lord When I Walked Alone

Lord when I walked alone  in loneliness
With despair and with frustration
I never knew what was in store for me
Until I found Your so great Salvation
I tried the worldly ways of men
But it was a fruitless enterprise
It wasn't until I read Your Word
That You opened up my eyes

The emotions that were ruling me
I found were the cause of sin
They always do a number on us
When we foster them within
We try to bring their quick dismissal
By trying different avenues
The three of the top qualifiers at hand
Are drugs and sex and booze

They begin to dominate
In one way or another
Our minds are bent to self destruct
If we continue on any farther
But praise God for the grace of God
That is always trying to intervene
To bring us to a repentant heart
Where forgiveness  cleanes within

O the freedom of sins forgiveness
A right relationship with God
A walk of faith with Christ Himself
Who praise God is
the Word
Who ignites within
a heart
That's been forgiven for sin
A pure desire to live for God
And to lead others unto Him

O there's power in God's Word
Through the preaching of the Cross
Which points a man to know the Saviour
Who shed His blood for us
Who longs to be your dearest Friend
For there’s not a Friend like Jesus
Who can take the wretchedness of our sin
And praise God He can free us!!!

He is always close at hand
To hear a sinners prayer
Lord I'm having significant problems
Can You help me here?
Your rising again Lord from the dead
Has proven Your Providence!
Now here I am laden down with burdens
Lord give me a second chance...

And praise God for the Lord of life
Who alone holds eternity
Who can take a sinner saved by grace
Who has bowed on bended knee
And bring Him to the realms of glory
Where Heaven will be his Home
Surrounded by others of like minded faith
There at the Father's Throne..

Hallelujah what a Saviour
Who can give us such a hope as this
And if we sin and confess it
He can cause that sin to dismiss
No greater relationship in this whole world
Could ever be found in another
If you're trying to find solace for your soul
In any other don’t even bother

For in Christ alone is the answer
For if you have Him you do have a prayer
For He is accessible twenty four seven
When you need Him He will be there
All you need is an honest filled heart
That's truly in search for some change
Come to Him now with all of your cares
He'd be most willing to rearrange!

Hallelujah what a Saviour!

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
