Give Me Grace

Give Me Grace

Give me grace to seek You Lord
This is my prayer today
Help me Lord to humble myself
To follow the narrow way
Broad the path that leads to destruction
I know its destructive power
I need You Lord...I need You Lord
I need You Lord this hour

Take the distractions from my life
That lead me away from You
May Your Spirit draw me nearer
To this let my heart be true
I want my future life to be
One that's pleasing to God
Give my ears true hearing aid
To hear and love Your Word

Give me grace Lord, give me grace
For Thine is the power and glory
May my life be rearranged
By that blessed gospel story
Jesus died and rose again
To offer us His eternity
May I by that grace of God
Embrace that life for me

Grace greater than all my sin
You've offered at the Cross
Forgiveness in its fullest measure
Gone its weight and dross
Hallelujah what a Saviour
I see!...I finally see!
Grace poured out on my behalf
What love God had for me

Lord You make no mistakes
All are precious in Your sight
May we seek Your grace each day
To follow after the light
For darkness has its hiding places
But none so dark  that You cannot see
May Your grace draw me nearer
Where I can be... complete in Thee!

Hallelujah what a Saviour!

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
