I Wish I Could

I Wish I Could

I wish I could have your faith
A lot of people have said
Not knowing it could be theirs as well
If they believed the Word
For faith cometh by hearing
And hearing by the Word of God
The Spirit will bring it home to your heart
That it may be understood

But first there's a topic to discuss
Before we even begin
A word nowadays you don't hear to often
It is the Word called sin
It is the result of unbelief
In what the Bible says
And any man who rejects God's Word
Will have eternal tormenting days

For that Word is quick and powerful
It can give you victory over death
For it's not just the words of man
But inspired by God's breath
Moved by the Holy Spirit
To take up pen and write
Each individual chosen by God
Wrote it exactly right!

So which village will you live in
In the land of unbelief
Or with the Redeemer in glory land
Free from sorrow and grief
I don't know about you
But I know where I am going
I'm definitely going to Heaven
And I'm sure my smiling's showing

So pick a special evening
Get into the Book
Don't let anything interrupt
And take a real good look
Ask for the Spirit 's guidance
To help you to understand
May faith begin its work in you
See you in glory land!

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
