Thank You Lord

Thank You Lord

Thank You Lord for abundant grace
I've received so much of it
Many times so undeserving
But You've blessed in spite of it
Your love it overwhelms me
When I think upon my lot
When You came through and graced me so
They're my forget me nots

There's not a word that can describe it
That's just how deep it is
But my spirit knoweth right well
That my Lord Jesus lives
And work it is to do each day
To keep my heart in tact
So I can live to please You Lord
In thought... in deed... in act

To labor into that sweet rest
Is a work I love to do
Reading and meditating on Thy Word
And listening to a hymn or two
Others might think it boring
But I know to whom I belong
I know sometimes in the deepest of sorrow
My Lord doth give me a song

And so in the quietness of my heart
The Lord doth speak to me
And by His Spirit penetrates
Every part of me
O yes I know, I know He lives
There is no question about it
And whenever I am blessed with opportunities
Praise God
I'm going to shout it

For I am definitely, definitely redeemed
Redeemed by the blood of the Lamb
And with every fibre of my being
I know, I know the I Am
And this saved sinner gives faithful praise
To that One Who died for me
And never would I have ever thought
What blessings from Calvary!

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
