Forgetting Those Things Which Are B

Forgetting Those Things Which Are Behind

Last year flew by unforgettably fast
Before we knew it another day had passed
Seems the older you get the faster time flies
And another year's gone much to our surprise
So many things happening on the worlds scene
So many topics to think on... it seems

About the only constant
That really gripped my soul
Was this continual reminder
God's still in control!
He still rules from heaven above
Overseeing the order of things
Because in Him I have full confidence
My heart...still.... can truly sing!

I rest in the Word of God
Which tells me not to fret
Because of the evilness of wicked men
Who have set a destructive net
Who rail against the God of Heaven
As if they could do much better
But one day they'll be fully accountable
To the law and to the letter

But praise God for His loving grace
That even though men may spite Him
If they repent of their evil ways
He'll forgive and the Spirit will seal them
Then as trophy's of God's grace
They'll be swift to bear His name
And pray for their friends and family
Because their inside has been rearranged!

O praise You Lord for Jesus Christ
Especially for His virgin birth
Not tainted by a sinful nature
But truly the God of earth
And the God of Heaven as well
Where one day billions will be bowing their knees
And confessing that Jesus Christ is Lord
To Your honour and Your glory!!!

Hallelujah what a Saviour!

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
