Grief Can Spillover

Grief Can Spillover

Grief can spillover and spillover often does
When we lose a loved one in our time
Memories tend to linger and take familiar paths
And we rehearse again their presence in our mind
That familiar voice we hear... their love for this and that
Their favorite clothes...their music...choice of friends
The avalanche of memories start unraveling the past
Of a life we wish to wish there was no end

Death before a ripened age is hard to visualize
We're numbed by the reality of its pain
All of the hopes and their unfulfilled dreams weigh heavy at such time
Death brings such a finality to life's game
But there's a reminder evident by our faith in Jesus Christ
This too shall pass there's a glorious coming day
When we shall rise with the rest of the saints to our eternal resting place
To greet again our loved one's on that day!

Praise God for grace to greet our grief
and soften it's death blow
Easing pain and administering healing balm
For the Spirit as our Comforter praise God He lives within
Who can once again equip us with a song
Grief can never be erased as such it's part and parcel of each life
We live...we die...a season of life... that sin has brought us to
But praise God for the satisfaction of a soul that knows the Lord
Death shall never prevent our meeting again anew!

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
