The Disciples

The Disciples

The disciples didn't have too many years
To reflect upon their Lord
But they had a large repetoire of amazing stories
Mostly recorded in His Word
They were in such close contact with Him
That if there was anything that was ever amiss
They'd definetly be the first to know it
And as to His teachings they'd dismiss

But no  charge was ever brought
Against our Lord that we know
He lived such an exemplary life
That's why they followed Him so
They saw so many acts of faith
And miracles thrown in too
They had to admit...that this was the Son of God
Right in front of their view

Doubting Thomas had some doubts
When the disciples shared the word
That Jesus Christ was alive and well
And of that they were assured
But he wanted much more proof
This was Thomas's stand
He wanted to see the wound in His side
And the nail prints in His hands

Jesus Christ who knows all things
Knew just what Thomas had said
So He appeared unto that group again
Proving Himself alive from the dead
Saying to Thomas...stretch forth thy hand
And thrust it into my side
Reach hither thy finger and behold my hands
Be not faithless but believing He cried

And Thomas answered and said unto Him
My Lord and my God
Jesus replied because thou hast seen me thou hast believed
And went on further to share with him this word
Blessed are they that have not seen
And yet they have believed
And many other signs did Jesus truly do
To solidify that they might believe

I love these faith filled stories
How Jesus proved that He was the Son of God
How He knows the heart's of all men
How exactly He completely understood
He knows your heart my brother
Is there some "doubting Thomas" in you?
Reach hither by your heart
And trust Him by faith
And become a Christ believer too!!!

Hallelujah what a Saviour!

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
