There's No Pain Like Soul Pain

There's No Pain Like Soul Pain

There's no pain like soul pain
And that's a fact for sure
Who doesn't know the pain of it
Of its emptiness and fear
There's not a feeling like it
It's hard to find a description
Only one way to be alleviated from it
The great Physician's prescription

Come unto me any of you
Who are weary and heavy laden
Cast all of your cares upon the Lord
Cast them without cessation
I will give you rest within your soul
I will be your sure delight
Your life that's topsy turvy now
Will be settled and made right

Why put off the gist of it
It's as meaningful as ever
For whomsoever comes to Jesus Christ
Those ties of love He will never sever
What a bond of loyalty
From Him who is faithful and true
Now! Now!...Reach out to Him
And He'll reach down His hand for you!

Those hands that have felt the greatest of pain
So that you might feel the blessing
Place thy heart in a receptive move towards God
With a ready tongue for confessing
God be merciful unto me a sinner
For I am but a poor lost soul
The worth of which You died for
That I might be made whole

O Lamb of God once Crucified
Whose blood was shed for me
O make my heart a thankful vessel
To offer praises back to Thee
By turning your eyes upon Jesus Christ
The things of this world will grow dim
For there's nothing in this whole wide world to compare with
Then a soul that has trusted in Him!

Hallelujah what a Saviour!

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
