Fathomless Love

FATHOMLESS LOVE

Fathomless the love of God

Incomprehendible* peace

Unconditional pardon

Assuring our release

So great Salvation, marvellous

In the sight of our Lord

Giving us a standing

That none of us could afford

What price He paid to offer?

This gift that’s so divine

He gave His life a sacrifice

So I, could enjoy mine

Fathomless the love of God

Deep the depths of mercy

Grace abounding to the soul

That’s hungering and thirsty

None that He won’t pardon

If they do repent

Forgiveness to the wayward one

Through the Son He sent

Fathomless the love of God

To save the soul from Hell

He condenscended, He! Himself

Who maketh all things well

Fathomless the love of God

To be Himself our Saviour

None shall escape who neglecteth so

Salvation of such measure

Fathomless the love of God

His grace is all sufficient

He wipes the sinner’s slate so clean

No imperfection in it

His eyes are looking to and fro

To see whose heart’s turned homeward

He meets him then how speedily

Who trusteth in His Word

Fathomless the love of God

Tell the world about it

Whisper not in lowly tones

But shout it! Shout it! Shout it!

The joy of true believers

Besides our souls salvation

To see that gospel truly sent

To every tribe and nation

Earthquakes, famines, fires and floods

Evangelists of our day

Father of nature uses them all

To have people turn His way

Swiftly now then to the lord

What gift could greater be

Than have a relationship with the One

Who calms the stormy sea

Fathomless the love of God

Longsuffering and plenteous in mercy

One day will come to take us home

I thank You Lord and praise Thee

* Or incomprehensible

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
