It's Very Rare

It's very rare that you come across
Two people devoted to God
So much so that they gave of their lives
With an objective to honor His Word
Having the faith in the Lord that they served
Would hold them always in good stead
This is how they ministered in life
They gave of the best that they had...

They both loved the hymns   and passed on that love
For we still love hymns today
They often remind us of the blessings we had
With the Norlins at Goulais Bay
His faithfullness in preaching gave us our standing
For praise God the Word standeth sure
He taught us the doctrines of Christ in the Bible
Which gave us a foundation secure

We had special meetings that would last for a week
Of which the blessings were good for our soul
Times of great fellowship with coffee and sweets
With a wonderful spirit over the whole
Their sacrificial giving and the way they were living
Was a treasured testimony to behold
What we saw on the outside was proof of the inside
And the half has never been told!

Thank you Pastor and Mrs. Norlin for your faithful ministry that has led us to the Lord and who's faithful preaching kept us grounded in the Word...
Hallelujah what a Pastor and hallelujah what a Saviour!

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
