That Is When the Cross Made Sense

THAT'S WHEN THE CROSS MADE SENSE

I saw my sin had put Him there

He hung in agony

Fully exposed my emptiness

Exposed my slavery

To satan's control I did submit

No power in me to change

Christ offered salvation by His blood

O praise His precious name

He drew me in I saw the light

The Lamb for sinner's slain

I then repented of my sin

And called on Jesus's name

The cleansing stream flowed over me

I felt " amazing grace"

And knew beyond a shadow of doubt

Lord Jesus took my place

That's when the cross made sense to me

I saw it O so clearly

That my Saviour died for me

And loved me O so dearly

That He who knew no sin Himself

Became my " Reconciler"

I know Him as my "Master" now

He is " my true Desire"!

O "cross of Calvary" You've blessed

Beyond all recognition

I am redeemed, set free, forgiven!

Because of Christ's submission

His crucifixion for my sin

His Resurrection story

Secured for me God's righteousness

And entrance into glory!

See that Cross of Jesus Christ

God's grace is still revealing

To each one who trusts in Him

His Holy Spirit sealing

Become His child by faith today

Receive God's gift for you

May that Cross which changed my life

Today make sense to you!

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
