Faith Cometh By Hearing

Faith cometh by hearing
And hearing by the Word of God
That's why the Bible's so important
To be learned and understood
Do not put off today
For you may not have a tomorrow
Check out just what God's Word says
Save yourself a life of sorrow

You have your favorite radio stations
The shows you watch on tv
All the latest media gizmos
That attracts humanity
But what consideration is given
As to the Manuscript for life
Check it out while still you may
It will alleviate a lot of strife

Don't be duped by satan's tactics
Eat...drink...and be merry
Enjoy the best of your life today
The rest is not really necessary
And time takes on an obliviousness
We're entrenched in darkness's deeds
And the father of lies strikes victory
When we succumb to our fleshly needs

Remember Thy Creator in the days of thy youth
A commandment found in God's Word
The reality of it is so profound
It is a blessing to those who have heard
Who have implemented the truth of that matter
And have really took it to heart
To know God and the pleasure of Him
Is a Friendship that shall never depart

Thank you Lord for Your precious Word
The light to my pathway always
As I seek to follow its precepts
My heart has continual praise
I'm not sidelined by circumstances
For its substance is purer than gold
I've found my treasure in its pages
In that wonderful story told

Jesus the Man of sorrows came
To bring me such jubilation
In the offering of an eternal life
The method...His so great Salvation
His blood covered my debt of sin
The which I was helpless to pay
And gained forever my eternal hope
Because He was raised one day!

Hallelujah what a Saviour!

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
