Surrounded By Sin

Surrounded By Sin

Surrounded by sin and succumbed to its power
Man was eternally lost
The only light at the end of that tunnel
Has come by way of the Cross
The Cross has left an indelible mark
The shed blood of Jesus Christ
When it is applied to a repentant heart
That soul is satisfied

To think that there was a Man as such
Living amongst us without one sin
Who Himself in a most humble fashion
Let men do Him in
For He knew the joy that was set before Him
He looked forward to that Resurrection day
When the truth of the gospel would dawn upon men
That Jesus Christ was really the Way

His followers were the benchmark
For now they lived as they had never lived before
They knew they were serving a risen Saviour
Praise God Christ was the Door
They lived their lives to the death
No longer succumbed to sins power
For that same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead
Lived in them at every hour

O to know such a Saviour
Tis so sweet to trust in Him
That One who paved the way for each sinner
By shedding His precious blood for them
May He become your chiefest delight
As the true Deliverer of your soul
And in being the faithful God that He is
To cleanse and make a lost sinner whole!!!

Hallelujah what a faithful God have I...
Hallelujah what a Saviour!

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
