Lord You Left

Lord You Left

Lord You left but You didn't leave us
For You sent Your Comforter
The Holy Spirit as our Companion
As we walk on earth down here
What glad assurance has that Spirit
Brought that truth on home
Because we've trusted Christ as our Saviour
Never again are we ever alone

What truth found in God's Word
That can set sin's captives free
And set the soul to its praising of God
As it was meant too from eternity
Have you felt forgiveness's  grace
Have you been washed by the blood of the Lamb
Then you'll never truly know God's love
Until you are born again

Don't stare God's riches to your face
And never read His Word
There's a treasure here unbelievable!
Of that you can be assured!
What!...Not finding out what He's said
To keep your soul from Hell
Don't pass up another day of opportunity
To what will make you really well

Don't let Satan continue to deceive you
That you've got it all together
His day too is coming friend
With whom will you live forever
I praise God that I have found Jesus
And O praise God He knows me
He knows the day that I truly repented
And I bowed down unto Him on my knees....

I skake my head in wonderment
When people around me live
As if there were no God to follow
What an empty offering to give
The highest worth on planet earth
Not in half but the whole
Is the Salvation...the glorious Salvation
The Salvation of a man's soul!

Hallelujah what a Saviour!

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
