The Grave Is Of Grave Importance

The Grave Is Of Grave Importance

The grave is of grave importance
Whenever we contemplate death
For some have not made preparation
For where they'll go at their final breath
Sometimes it takes a death to think about death
Sometimes we can do it without
With questions of where do I go when I die
What's life really actually about

I know I had those questions myself
When I was but a little lad
Where would I go when I died
And what about mom and dad
God has given us minds to think
For He has made us to mind
The things that happen all around us
And death is one of a kind

Praise God death has another side
And a side done to perfection
For praise God there was One who came along side
To become our Resurrection
Now downcast eyes can look up
For there's a bright hope for tomorrow
Ever though death  temporarily can bring us
Portions of grief and of sorrow

I rest my case in Jesus Christ
In my life's gravest decision
His love for us so great He came
To offer us a Salvation
His Resurrection substantiated
His followers saw Him alive
Then gave their lives for the glory of God
For they knew that even through death they would survive!

Yes O yes O happy day
When Jesus washed my sins away
There's nothing like that cleansing stream
That grace provides in place of sin
I know the very spot I knelt
When my touch of God was felt
Fear of death completely lost its power
That day of my soul's Salvation hour!

Hallelujah what a Saviour!

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
