In Admiration

In Admiration

I'm in admiration of a Saviour
Who suffered the utmost of agony
When He took on Himself the penalty for sin
And went to the Cross for me
It was hidden unto me for years
Until I began to read God's Word
And the revelation of the reality of sin
Was the most significant message I ever heard

Amen...in the beginning God created
Both the heavens and the earth
And He made a man and a woman
To populate its girth
With just a simple commandment
In the which they were to obey
The serpent appeared and beguiled Eve
And their obedience fell away

Swiftly they tried to hide themselves
When they heard the voice of God
Thus giving away their acknowledgement
That they'd disobeyed God's  Word
Then they tried to shift the blame
Away from themselves as such
But God held them both accountable
For He'd told them not to touch

But with the love of a Father
He made them coverings
And they were afforded grace... praise God again
Through God's sacrificial offering
The blood of bulls and goats would become
The offering for men's sin
But it wasn't until the blood of Christ the Lord
Would enable him to be born again

Hallelujah for sins Saviour
Who with a character without blemish
Took God's wrath for  sin upon Himself
And cried out..."It is finished!"
Then with glorious victory
He rose again from the dead
And proved Himself the Lord of the living
In His Resurrection from
 the dead

Now a blessed hope is obtainable
Praise God upon repentance for our sin
When we acknowledge our own wilfulness
And our disobedience unto Him
Now praise God there's deliverance
And it's found in His so great Salvation
And it's in that fact I'm most thankful for
And I hold Him in great admiration...

Hallelujah what a Saviour!

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
